Joint Industry Guidance for the supply and use of 0.50% m/m sulphur fuels published
A number of industry organisations – representing shipping, refineries, fuel suppliers and standard organisations – have come together to produce a joint industry document offering guidance for the supply and use of 0.50% m/m sulphur fuels. The document has been complied by an extensive range of industry experts covering industry sectors such as refining, supply, vessel owners / operators and fuel testing agencies to give as wide a breadth of experience as possible.
It has been specifically drafted to provide guidance for all members of the fuel value chain from fuel suppliers through to the end user looking specifically at the key considerations for 0.50% m/m sulphur fuels.
In looking to provide guidance and support to the bunkering industry, as a whole, it covers key aspects of fuel quality principles and the associated controls to ensure that potential issues are avoided.
It deals with specific areas of concern such as operational considerations, fuel handling and storage requirements, fuel stability and compatibility as well as providing a comprehensive review of existing operational factors that can affect safety.
The publication has been created as a free resource for all and is available to download from the websites of the participating organisations.
Lintec clients wishing to access the full document can download it free of charge from the IBIA website using the below link:
The publication is the first phase of a dual process with the second phase being provided in the form of an e-learning course which is due to be released in October 2019.
